In this section, we'll see how to open protected emails on Windows Outlook desktop app.
What you need to know
- Have you received a seclore-protected email?
- To open the email on the Outlook app on your desktop, you must install the Seclore desktop agent.
Installing the Seclore agent on Windows
- Through the Outlook app, you can also open and share a classified email from your desktop.
- You can also change the classification of unprotected emails while replying to/forwarding them.
- Classification of protected emails cannot be changed.
- You must sign in using your work email id or the email id you use to communicate with the organization that has shared the email.
*If you don't wish to install Seclore for Windows app on your computer, you can open the emails in your browser.

Similarly, you can open classified emails within Outlook.
If your organization has configured classification labels and made them available to you, you will see the labels in the Office ribbon. You can change the classification of unprotected emails while replying/forwarding to match the sensitivity of the new content.
Smart Sharing
You can reply to or forward a protected email and share your permissions with more recipients (if you’ve got the Share permission) using the Smart Sharing feature.
You can also add new email content and attachments to the protected email and ensure that Smart Sharing is ON, as shown below. When Smart Sharing is ON, new recipients you add to the email will automatically receive secure access to any new email content.
