- To open the file on your desktop, you need to install the Seclore desktop agent.
Installing the Seclore agent on Windows
- You must sign in using your work email id or the email id you use to communicate with the organization that has shared the file.
*If you don't wish to install Seclore for Windows app on your computer, you can open the files in your browser.

Opening protected files from cloud locations
You can also open protected files in read-only mode from cloud locations in the backstage view. This feature is available for Excel and Word files. Let’s see how this works.
Opening a file with Universal Protection
What you need to know
- Files formats other than the standard ones are protected with Universal Protection. Files formats such as MP3, MP4, JT, BPX, SVG, PSD, XD, etc. are considered universal file formats.
- Users with permissions on such files will always have Full Control, which means they can even unprotect the file.
- To open a file with Universal protection, you need to install the Seclore desktop agent.
